Order of Protection Domestic Violence

Definition: A court order protecting a victim of domestic violence from further abuse by prohibiting the respondent from contacting, threatening, or approaching the petitioner. Florida provides both temporary and final injunctions for protection.

Domestic Violence Protective Orders in Florida

Florida domestic violence injunctions (Section 741.30) protect victims from further violence. No filing fee. Temporary order: ex parte (immediate danger). Permanent hearing within 15 days. Can order: no contact, vacate residence, surrender firearms (Section 790.233). Violation: 1st degree misdemeanor; arrest without warrant.
