Section 522: exemptions determining what the debtor keeps. FL is opt-out: uses state exemptions. Homestead (Art. X, Sec. 4): unlimited value, 1/2 acre municipal / 160 rural, 730-day domicile. Personal property: $4,000. Wages: head of family 100% exempt. Retirement: fully exempt. Non-exempt: Ch. 7 trustee sells; Ch. 13 must pay value through plan. BAPCPA cap: $189,050 if acquired within 1,215 days.
