Zero-Based Budgeting

Definition: Zero-Based Budgeting (ZBB) is a budgeting method in which every expense must be justified for each new period, starting from a “zero base.” Instead of using the previous year’s budget as a baseline, all expenses are analyzed and approved based on current needs and goals. This approach ensures that resources are allocated efficiently and that unnecessary or outdated expenditures are eliminated.
